[ the problem with being a kid whose worst injury has been a skinned knee or a broken finger: he doesn't really understand any of this. the "powers" that so many of his peers have seem like something that should be delegated to a fantasy world. hopefully moving forward will help all of that change, solidify the reality into something he can believe. ]
